This is not a 5 Star modern beach house but an early 1950’s fishing shack. While it is better than most and we are upgrading and modernizing all the time - do not expect everything to be new and modern. That is not the point. For this property, location is everything.
Important points to note:
Telephone reception is terrible but we have installed WiFi that is pretty good so make sure you log onto the WiFi network and use this for calls etc. Password is qinspass.
The new dryer and washing machine in the laundry/bathroom cannot be used at the same time - only one at a time. Also, you have to turn them on using the middle dial before they will light up and operate.
Mice are always a problem over Winter and Spring - we have laid bait in many places that cannot be accessed by pets but they still sometimes manage to get in to cupboards and drawers. Do not freak out - you won’t find live ones but you may find the occassional droppings in a cupboard.
On very windy days the front left window frame may vibrate and knock - just jam a bit of cardboard between the frames to stop this if it annoys you. We intend to replace all the front windows this year.
We own a Coonawarra winery and usually leave some of our wine at the property in the lounge room and boxes in the games room. Price is $20 per bottle (Riesling and Cab Sauv) - leave the cash in the kitchen drawer or call to have it added to your account.
We provide an extensive range of provisions for ourselves and our guests but the rule is to replace what is used up so that the next guests do not miss out. Please respect this and replace everything that is getting low or gone on departure. See the “What to bring” section below to see the things we do not leave as provisions and that you should bring yourself.
